How to use the teflmaster.org tools:
The tools we provide here are designed to help busy teachers make quality exercises quickly. You don't need to be registered in order to create esl exercises online - just enter the text you want to use into the form, hit the button at the bottom and wait for the results.
After you've created an exercise, you will be redirected to the viewer, where you can choose to download the exercise as a .rtf file (which opens in Microsoft Word and then can be saved as a .doc file if necessary), print it directly from the web page with one click (all the graphics and adverts from the page will miraculously disappear) or, if you are logged in as a member, you can save it to your personal account.
You can use the tools in a variety of ways, for example you could depuncuate sentences before scrambling them in order to make a more challenging exercise. Feel free to experiment!
About saving files as .rtf:
.rtf stands for 'Rich Text Format'. This is a universal document format that is compatible with a wide range of operating systems and word processing packages. In Windows, it opens with Microsoft Word. To save it as a Word .doc file, first download it to your computer, open it in MS Word and then choose Save As.. from the File menu. At the bottom of the 'Save As' dialog, choose Word Document (*.doc) from the Save as type drop-down list.
Printing from screen:
To print an exercise, simply click the 'Print' link. This should open a normal printer dialog box. The exercise will be sent to the printer as a plain document with black text, a white background and no pictures.
Saving to your user account:
Your user account lets you save and organise exercises so that you can easily find them again in future, similar to bookmarking a web page. We will shortly introduce more advanced sorting and searching options. You can save others' exercises as well as your own.
